We were in Nepal on a photosafari trip on the 14th March. It was just in time for the Holi Festival that was celebrated on the 16th. Holi is a festival to welcome spring and summer in hope for a better harvest. There are many stories to the origin of Holi. You can look up the net and find one that you can believe in. The festival started with a Color Run on the 15th March through Thamel area ending at Kathmandu Durbar Square. Foreigners were allowed to participate in this run.

Holi celebrations started on the 16th of March this year. The shops at Thamel Bazaar were closed for the festival. The festival was celebrated by both locals and foreigners alike. We took this opportunity to join in the fun. I will let the pictures do the talking.
