PhotoMalaysia PhotoSafari Experience or PMPE for short is a program developed by Photosafari.com.my in conjunction with PhotoMalaysia.com. This program is targeted to newbies and not-so-newbies in photography who want to improve their photography skills. It will initially be a Two Stages, 9 days event, to be led by Maxby and Digitalartist. Later in the year, additional specialist modules will be added.
Stage 1 will be two days of intensive lectures, demos, discussions, photo-critiques and questions & answers in a cosy classroom setting, using hundreds of sample images to illustrate and make attendees aware of critical photography skills, which under normal circumstances, are usually picked up over a lifetime of learning and experience. The two days program is designed as a fast track way to get you up to speed, and be effectively running, in the science, art, craft, and subtle nuances of Digital Photography.
We will guide you on How to Choose a Digital Camera, Lenses & Accessories, How to Care for your equipment including Sensor cleaning, How to Use, Understand & Master your Camera, How to Compose & Shoot Compelling pictures, How to Post Process digital pictures with Photoshop, How to Calibrate your monitor, and How to Store, Catalog, Organize and quickly process your digital images using the current crop of metadata image processors like Adobe Lightroom.
The two days program will cover a Complete Digital Workflow, arranged to equip attendees with the foundations and all the essential skills needed to see and shoot successful digital images. It is designed to give you a kick start in Digital Photography, to equip you with the necessary foundations upon which to further develop your photography skills, and be better equipped to shoot better pictures. You will also be encouraged to bring along your own pictures for Critique & Post Processing tutorials and demonstrations. In fact, half of the second day will be dedicated to teaching you a practical post processing workflow designed to get you up and running in digital processing. No theory but simply what to do from the point of downloading your pictures into your computer, to the point of printing the finished image.
Stage 2 will be 7 days and 6 nights Photo Safari in Seam Reap, Cambodia or other overseas locations, programmed to reinforce the learning points downloaded in Stage 1. There will be guided shooting walkabouts, Question, Answers & Critique sessions, Demonstrations of Practical Composition using the famed temples of Angkor Wat as subject and backdrop, Tips on Street, Village and Market Shooting, Tips on Shooting Strangers, shooting Silhouettes, Panning Techniques, Tips and Demonstrations on how to See and Use Light, Shadows, Patterns and Textures in B&W and colour, how to Shoot Sunrises, mirror reflections, and in fact how to see and make compelling pictures. The 7 days Photo Safari is a practical, on site and hands on learning program, combining photography with the pleasure of exploring mysterious Seam Reap or other countries and sampling its culinary and other delights. This is a learning photography tour, designed by experienced photographers for photographers. Places for Stage 2 are limited to 20 persons per trip, and preference will be given to people who attend Stage 1.
On the completion of the Stage 2, participants will have to submit at least 20 of their best photos taken during the trip to be incorporated into a Coffee Table Book showcasing the work of all the participants in the trip.
